President Ghani via a video conference last evening discussed the Afghan peace process with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the presidential Palace (ARG) said in a statement on Thursday.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed enhancement of bilateral relations, regional issues, and the ongoing Afghan peace process, the ARG statement said.
President Ghani also discussed the strengthening of trade with Germany, adding the Afghan government is mulling to launch the air corridors with Germany in order to export fresh and dried fruits from Afghanistan to Germany, the statement furthered.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed concerns over the ongoing violence in Afghanistan and hoped that her country’s efforts would lead to a peaceful Afghanistan under the umbrella of a democratic system, it added.
Merkel reiterated Germany’s support for Afghanistan, saying Germany wants a stable Afghanistan in the region and its efforts must lead to a peaceful Afghanistan.
