According to sources, Maulana Fazlur Rehman in one of the movement’s meetings termed the merger of the tribal areas as an agenda of the West and called it an abuse of the rights of tribals. However, Mohsin Dawar objected to his comments and said that the tribal people had made sacrifices and efforts for the merger of the tribal districts with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province.

He said it became possible as a result of the merger to withdraw the law of the British era in the name of Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR) which was imposed on tribal people for over 100 years. Sources said Mohsin replied Maulana saying he has been a part of the All Parties Conference from day one and he is personally attending the meeting as the leader of the Opposition.

When Independent Urdu contacted Mohsin Dawar and was asked about Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s objection to attending PDM’s meeting, he replied he did not want to comment on the internal affairs of the meeting. However, he did not deny that Maulana has objected to his participation in the PDM meeting.

Regarding Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s objection to Dawar’s participation in the PDM meeting, Samar Haroon Bilour, provincial spokesperson of the Awami National Party, which is also part of the PDM, told The Independent Urdu that ‘Maulana Fazlur Rehman is right to question the participation of Mohsin Dawar in the meeting as Mohsin Dawar is not representing any political party in the movement. Bilour further said: “We value the representatives of all the political parties present in the PDM and consider this alliance as a united alliance of political parties while Maulana objection on Mohsin Dawar to participate in the movement in a personal capacity is legitimate.”

In this regard, Independent Urdu tried to contact Sherry Rehman, leader of the main opposition Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in the PDM, but she declined to comment on the matter, while PML-N leaders Ahsan Iqbal and Khurram Dastgir were unavailable to comment.

When Maulana Abdul Jalil Jan, the provincial spokesperson of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, was contacted for his position on the issue, he said, whatever Maulana Fazl has said in the meeting is the policy and position of JUI-F.
